He’s been working in Bologna, Italy, since 2011 and he teaches meteorology at the University of Venice. His mountaineering activity began with a bold free-solo in the Big Schism (1996). Later he enrolled in the EOS of Athens and attended the respective mountaineering and climbing schools (1999-2001). He has made numerous solo ascents the most prominent free-solos being in Giona (Michaelides-Leontiades in 1h53’) the north of Matterhorn, and the legendary Pilier Central du Frêney. This year, he almost touched the peak of K2 (8611 m) without the use of supplemental oxygen and altitude. He is the only Greek to have climbed all the traditional northern slopes of the Alps.
